Peanut Butter Tart Squares

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter OR margarine
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
TOPPING:
  • 1/2 cup Karo® Light Corn Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter OR margarine, softened
  • 2 egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped unsalted roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
  • 1/2 cup semi--sweet OR dark chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. CRUST: Beat butter, peanut butter and sugar in bowl until creamy. Stir in flour, corn starch and salt until well combined and crumbly. Press evenly into bottom of greased 8-inch square baking dish. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until pale golden around edges; set aside.
  3. TOPPING: Stir together corn syrup, corn starch, baking powder and salt in a small bowl until smooth. Stir in butter, eggs and vanilla until well blended. Pour over crust. Sprinkle peanuts, peanut butter chips and chocolate chips over top.
  4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden and just set in the center. Let cool completely in pan on rack. Cut into squares
