Popcorn Candy Crunch

Ingredients

  • 3 quarts (12 cups ) popped popcorn
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Karo® Light Corn Syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup fruit flavored small candies
  • Colored sugars and sprinkles, optional

Directions

  1. Spray large bowl and large baking sheet with cooking spray. Pour popcorn into bowl.
  2. Combine sugar, corn syrup, butter and salt in a heavy 2-quart saucepan. Stirring constantly, bring to full boil over medium heat. Continue stirring and boil 1 minute.
  3. Remove syrup mixture from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour syrup mixture over popcorn stirring to coat well. Stir in candies and add sprinkles if desired. Pour onto prepared baking sheet.
  4. Cool completely.
  5. Recipe Note: Be sure to remove any unpopped kernels before starting.
