Spice Cake with Maple Brown Sugar Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Karo® Dark Corn Syrup
  • 3/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat corn syrup, butter and sugar in large mixing bowl at medium speed. Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir together flour, soda, pumpkin pie spice and salt in small bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating until combined. Stir in buttermilk and mix well.
  4. Pour batter into two greased and floured 8 or 9-inch round baking pans.
  5. Bake 35 to 45 minutes, depending on pan size. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
  6. Frost with Maple Brown Sugar Frosting.
